OPEN FORUM: Read any good books lately?

Hey Everybody! I have a simple post today. Have you been Reading any good books this year or in this month in particular?

The old thing in school came to mind I am not sure if it is touted as often as I used to heard it during my K-12 Education but here it is…

MARCH IS READING MONTH!

Did you know that it was in Honor of Dr. Seuss or something like that? I never knew it until last weekend when i scheduled this to go up. In my whole 20+ years on this planet I never knew. I do now though so that’s kind of neat.

So any good reads recently, in any format? I do mean any format by the way. As in visual/graphic so comics, manga, web toons/comics graphic novels. Classic paper hard or soft cover books. Digital E-books, Audiobooks or even game format like a visual or kinetic novel.

I personally have not been reading much physically. One thing I have picked u is playing visual novels while at work. It helps me to make my brain switch between technical writing and stupid nonsense. I only do this though when things slow down since I can’t get away from the desk unless I am on lunch or break. They are low commitment and I can just minimizes or quick save and get back to work when a customer sends an email in and work it until completion and get back to fun reading to counter act the work reading.

Question prompts:

  • Have you tried Audible that many people have gotten sponsorships for?
    • If yes did you like it and was it cool? If not why not ?
  • Do you like digital formats of reading like books, audio books, or any other or do you prefer the book in hand the feel of turning that page and all that jazz?
  • If Reading is not your thing have you considered writing?
    • I know we had a few writers in our midst with TGE working on her Visual Novel, Kaiju Crush, she has also been working on and running her own site Bwillet Comics and has a few books published and a long running series.

Not feeling any of these questions? Well as always feel free to talk amongst yourselves.

**Have you tried Audible that many people have gotten sponsorships for?**
I've tried it before. Actually never heard an audio book ever. I guess I don't really ever have extended time to just listen to something and if I do I prefer music.

**Do you like digital formats of reading like books, audio books, or any other or do you prefer the book in hand the feel of turning that page and all that jazz?**
I think I prefer book in hand because I've always liked physical material but I'm not opposed to digital formats. I actually have an old Kindle Fire that has a bunch of comics on it that I'm slowly going through

**If Reading is not your thing have you considered writing?**
Definitely not a great writer. I'm fine but not really the writing type I guess? I try sometimes but never practice enough to get really good at it. Definitely more of a reader.

I just finished Ready Player Two a week or two ago and this is the most recent book I've read. I do love a good visual novel as well. Does make it easy to pick up and play a bit without having to worry as much about save points.

@peepso_user_35(RealmofDarthon) That's fair. Audio books are truly not my thing due to my hearing issues i would prefer words without noise without music that i understand as well

I too am a physical book main. I won an older kindle and it was such a hassle I threw it in the box after wiping it

I would like to write more better but judging by that sentence you understand my issue as well most likely.

How did you like ready player 2? My sister said it was "Not very based in fact it was very cringe and she felt the author could have left things alone with the original"
I have not read either book nor seen the movie personally.

@peepso_user_6(Novibear) Ready Player Two was pretty similar to the first book. I feel like there was more urgency in this one that kicked in maybe halfway through. It's been maybe 6+ years since I read the first book though so it's been a bit. I enjoyed it but I like meta-references and nostalgia like this. He definitely could have left it with just the first book but this wasn't bad. The movie only loosely follows the plot of the first book. Main plot points are followed but that's about it. I can understand why as it would be very difficult to make a one to one copy of the book, even with Spielberg directing. I think it's a decent movie though. Jam-packed full of references.
