Really Useful Lessons

(Originally posted 2015-03-11)

So my son’s watching Sprout, and there’s this episode of Thomas and Friends (showing as I type, but I caught it before the other day), where Emily winds up making a helluva mess by trying to put flowers all over the quarry (and causing accidents with Edward and Thomas as a result) in order to cheer up Mavis – all because Mavis didn’t say “hi” back to Emily because she was just busy thinking about something else.

I forget what the stated lesson is supposed to be – oh wait, here it comes around: Emily should’ve just asked Mavis if she was in fact sad – but frankly, what I took away was, if Mavis had been bothered enough in the first place to just respond when Emily greeted her, instead of having her head up her firebox thinking about all the crap she had to do that day, IT ALL COULD’VE BEEN AVOIDED.

BASIC CIVILITY PEOPLE. IT PREVENTS DISASTER.

Don't screw with Sir Topham Hatt...
With a simple “Hello”, this all could’ve been avoided…
