Hey uh welcome to today’s open forum! Despite the title it’s actually about my latest pick up and kind of a first impressions review kind of thing!

I picked up Soundfall on PS4 on May 14th 2022, after seeing it on Steam in a discovery queue.
This was a neat treat for me as I was completely unaware of it’s existence and completely missed it’s crowd funding campaign.
Although Steam has the option for custom tracks. I got it for PS4 for easier access to multiplayer with my family.
So far I am about halfway through the game having beaten the first boss and gotten to the second set of worlds. Having played well over 60 songs between the story campaign bonus levels along the way and free play. Not sure how many hours I have logged but my shoulder button figures hurt so either a lot or I am just getting old.
Premise
The story is pretty simple, Five kids get sent to another world (Isekai’d) while enjoying music to the world where music Harmonia comes and a but a bunch of little evil dudes are tryna wreck the place and kill the music.
You start as the pink haired Heroine Melody, and are joined by 4 others as you play the story. Your end goal is to save Harmonia, Music, and Go back home because Melody can’t miss work.
Gameplay
Soundfall can be started in 2-4 Player co-op mode. However it will be a bit confusing as all players will be Melody at the beginning. Which may make it hard to tell yourselves apart until you get different elemental armor to have a different colored glow.
All 5 characters perform Melee attacks differently, and have a different special attack.

The MUSIC!
Some songs have been hit and miss for me personally. I have found a few gems I have already managed to platinum which requires beating the level before It’s song ends, Take NO Damage AND do EVERYTHING TO THE BEAT!
However one very neat thing is From the opening of the game you have access to EVERY TRACK in the game via Free play. I am loving it even the songs I feel are too slow to shoot/melee/dash and move from the beat. Mainly the beach and underwater songs throw me off with bpms below 100.
The track list is pretty extensive and has a lot across a lot of Genres kind of grouped by the biomes in the map above. The meadows has pop music. The volcano has rock and metal related songs. Things went pretty well for me in the underground city when you get in to more Techno/EDM tracks.
Closing
I would recommend this to anyone that likes rhythm games and also enjoyers of looter shooters.
I will not be giving any ranking or number or anything like that for a review as its a music game and tastes are very subjective in that especially. Also I simply have not beaten the game and played every song yet. Soundfall is missing some features I believe would improve it. Such as a favorites option for Freeplay. Making your own in-game playlists a arena/survival mode. Hopefully it gets more support. I am not aware if all of the promised goals that were planned for and funded as a part of the original crowdfunding campaign have been implemented. However Soundfall as a whole has been solid so far.
