Spacemon, Vol. 1 - Chapter 14: The Price of Revenge

The Dunsparce approached the massive ship owned by Mr. Silver. Arlon flew the small bucket into the port hangar of the much larger ship and set it down. Just like the last time they met with their mysterious employer, the ship’s crew was led by a security team to a dimly lit office. The familiar silhouetted figure of a Mr. Mime stood behind the desk, back turned, looking out through the viewport into the vastness of space.

“Mr. Silver?” Morgan asked.

The Mr. Mime turned around and looked at the group of individuals gathered in the office. A static horizontal line displayed on the screen-face.

“We’ve been to Earth,” Morgan continued, a stern tone in her voice.

“Ah, yes,” Mr. Silver replien. The line flickered for a moment, displaying the waveform of Mr. Silver’s voice. It was soon replaced by data from the crew’s scans of Earth scrolling across as he analyzed it.

“How much are you willing to pay us?” Dmitri asked.

“How much are you willing to part with?” Mr. Silver asked in return.

“Here’s what we brought,” Arlon said. He nodded to his crewmates and they began unloading their finds onto the desk. “We found these fossils in a cave,” he said, pointing to the collection of Zubat fossils they had collected, except for a couple they had left back on the ship. “Further in, we discovered a strange pool of water that was incredibly clear and so pure. Inside the pool was this crystal tree … thing. We have samples of both the water and the tree.”

Scans of the samples placed on the desk scrolled across Mr. Silver’s screen-face. He appeared to be analyzing them and comparing the results to data he already had.

“And we have this,” Morgan added, revealing the skull that she found in the pool.

“I see,” Mr. Silver said as he shifted his focus to the skull. The data stream on his screen-face moved faster than ever.

“You said you’d pay us,” Morgan continued. “How much?”

“I am prepared to give you one-hundred-thousand credits for the skull.”

“For that much, it must be important,” Morgan replies. “What is it?”

“It is … interesting,” Mr. Silver replied.

“I told myself I wouldn’t part with the skull until I knew what it was,” Morgan told him. “Will you tell me what it is?”

“Perhaps.”

“‘Perhaps’ is not good enough.”

“What else are you willing to give me in exchange for this future information?”

“We have information on a secret Romanov project,” Morgan said. “A Pokemon called Genesect.”

“Ah, the Genesect,” said Mr. Silver, as if he had heard the name before. “So you are proposing an exchange of information?”

“I suppose.”

“Very well.”

“How do we know you won’t turn back on the deal?” Shane asked.

“In my line of business, my word is worth a great deal,” Mr. Silver told him. He remained focused on Shane, as if analyzing him. “Did you find something else in the void?” he asked.

“I assume you’ve noticed by now,” Shane replied. He lifted his arm and showed off the mark from Giratina.

“Naturally,” Mr. Silver said as a scan of Shane’s mark appeared on his screen-face.

“I’m still not on the table for a trade,” Shane warned him.

“Let’s return to business then, shall we?” Arlon cut in.

“Very well,” Mr. Silver replied. “As I said before, I am willing to offer you one-hundred-thousand credits for the skull.”

“And how much for the other items?” Arlon asked.

Mr. Silver looked down at the samples on his desk. Numbers rolled across the screen-face as he calculated a price value. “Five-hundred each for the fossils. Two-thousand each for the water samples. Twenty-five-hundred for the tree samples.”

“I don’t suppose you’d be willing to pay us a bit more, would you, mate?”  Arlon asked.

“What more could I possibly give you?”

“It was a dangerous mission,” Dmitri responded. “We should get a bit more compensation for risking our lives.”

“It was a dangerous mission,” Shane agreed. “One that was probably unsurvivable. But we came back. That should be more than enough to warrant more compensation.”

“But you did go by choice,” Mr. Silver pointed out.

“Look mate, we just want a bit more money,” Arlon bluntly stated. “Either that, or you don’t get any of this.”

“Very well. I will add an additional five-hundred each for the samples, plus additional compensation for each of you,” said Mr. Silver. “This brings the grand total up to a round one-hundred-twenty-eight-thousand credits. This is my final offer.”

“We’ll take it,” Arlon told him.

“The transfer is being made,” Mr. Silver responded. He then turned back to Morgan. “As a token of good faith: on the so-called Genesect, should you choose to act, here is a set of coordinates. You might want to hurry. You have eighteen hours should you choose to act upon this. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have another appointment. I advise that you leave before then.”

As the crew stepped back into the hangar, another ship flew into the hangar. Arlon recognized it immediately; it’s none other than the Red Suns’ heavy frigate, the UAS Corsair. Upon seeing the ship again, Arlon could feel the anger building inside him. They must be the other appointment Mr. Silver was talking about, he realized. It’s time for Garth to pay for what he’s done.

The past few weeks adrift in warp space had given Arlon clarity of thought. In his mind, there could be no doubt, no other course of action. It was now clear to him that Devlin Garth had somehow been responsible for the death of Lars Ricketts, the former leader of the Red Suns, and that he had somehow found a way to pin the blame on Arlon. It was the only thing that made sense.

Instead of walking back toward the Dunsparce, Arlon stood across from the Corsair, waiting for his one-time allies to disembark. This would end today.

“Arlon, what are you doing!?” Shane called out to him.

“The Red Suns are here!” Arlon shouted back. “This might be my only chance for revenge!”

“We should just leave!” Morgan shouted as she approached.

“No! Garth is here! It’s time for him to pay!”

“Let’s just go!” Morgan shouted back. She grabbed Arlon’s arm and tried to pull him away, but she was too late. The Corsair’s cargo ramp lowered, revealing two of Arlon’s former Red Suns compatriots: Devlin Garth— the ruthless man that he so despised— and Rena Bordeaux— the Red Suns’ expert sniper, a woman to whom he had once been very close.

“Well, well, well, if it ain’t Arlon Jett,” Devlin sneered as he descended the ramp. “Back from the dead, I see. Ya here to spoil another job?”

“Enough of your games, Garth!” Arlon shouted back. “I know it was you! I know you set me up!”

“You have no proof,”  Garth fired back.  “As far as I’m concerned, yer here to ruin another job, just like Parisia.”

“I have my own business here,” Arlon responded.

“Hell, I don’t know yer motives. I don’t know who’s payin’ you.”

“Arlon, will I not be able to do experiments until these guys are gone?” H asked, seemingly bored with talking.

“No, mate, you won’t,” Arlon told his crewmate.

“Alright then,” H said as he released his Rhyhorn.

This set everyone off and they all reached for the own Pokeballs. Arlon sent out his Houndoom, Shane his Houndour, Morgan her Espeon, and Dmitri his Inkay. Across from them, Rena released her Alakazam, a Pokemon Arlon had seen in action many times. However, the Pokemon Devlin released filled Arlon with rage. The former Red Sun found himself facing off with an Aggron. It wasn’t just any Aggron, though, but the one he had trained up from an Aron, the one that had been his faithful companion up until he had been blown from a Parisian tower and left for dead.

“How like you!” Arlon shouted at Devlin. “Using my own bloody Pokemon against me!”

Devlin said nothing in response. A slight smirk formed on his face as his Aggron stepped forward and let out a mighty roar.

“Cerberus, use Fire Fang!” Arlon commanded his Houndoom as his rage grew. The quick canine Pokemon rushed at the Aggron and sank his fiery jaws into the larger Pokemon. Sorry old friend, Arlon though.

“Sorcier, use Focus Blast!” Rena commanded her Alakazam in response, pointing at Arlon’s Houndoom. The Psi Pokemon built up a ball of focused energy, then launched it at Cerberus. The blast hit the Houndoom dead on, sending the Dark Pokemon flying backwards into a nearby crate. Arlon winced at the sound of his Pokemon’s bones cracking from the impact. The Houndoom made one feeble attempt to get back up, then fell still, dead.

“No!” Arlon shouted as he ran to his Pokemon’s side. Images of his last fateful battle with the Red Suns back on Parisia flashed through his mind.

“You always had too much affection for yer Pokemon,” Devlin jabbed, a grin showing on his face.

“You’ll pay for this!” Arlon shouted as he released his Aron. Devlin grunted out a laugh at the sight of the small pre-evolved form of his Pokemon.

“Yvonne, Bite that Alakazam!” Morgan commanded her Espeon as the battle continued. Her Pokemon ran up to the Alakazam and took a nasty bite at him.

“F.I.R.E., use Bite!” Shane then ordered his Houndour. “Finish that Alakazam off!” His Pokemon charged Sorcier as well and sank her teeth in, taking the Alakazam down before he could get off another deadly shot.

“Cthulhu, Psybeam!” Dmitri instructed his Inkay, pointing out the Aggron.

“Dodge it!” Devlin commanded in response. The Aggron lunged out of the way of the beam, causing it to fly off and hit the wall. “Now, Titan, hit that Rhyhorn with Iron Tail!” The Iron Armor Pokemon roared, then charged at #1. Titan lifted his powerful tail as he approached, then slammed it into the Rhyhorn, dealing a mighty blow.

“#1, use Stomp!” H commanded his Pokemon in response. However, the Rhyhorn missed his mark, still staggering from the hit. H recalled his injured Pokemon, then grappled away on his magnetic extendo-legs. Once a good distance away, he released his new Snorunt.

Seizing the opportunity, Rena recalled her fainted Alakazam and sent out her Gardevoir. As she did so, Shane vanished from sight. All the combatants stared at the spot where he had been standing in confusion. It was only momentary, however, as they were soon sucked back into the heat of battle.

“Ballerine, use Moonblast!” Rena commanded her Pokemon. The Gardevoir lifted her arms and summoned up a massive ball of energy, which she then lobbed at Dmitri’s Inkay, knocking the Revolving Pokemon out with one hit. Dmitri quickly recalled his fainted Pokemon, then sent out his Haunter.

Without Shane there to instruct her, F.I.R.E. looked at Titan, determining the hulking Aggron to be the biggest threat, then spat fire at the Iron Armor Pokemon.

“Titan, use Iron Defense!” Devlin commanded in response. The Aggron hunkered down and took a defensive stance, ready for another hit.

Knowing he couldn’t do much about Titan and looking to get some payback against Rena, Arlon focused on her Pokemon instead. “Ironhide, use Iron Head!” he commanded his Aron, pointing at the Gardevoir. Ironhide charged at the Gardevoir, lowering his head for impact.

“Dodge with Teleport!” Rena commanded her Pokemon in response. The Gardevoir warped away at the last second, just before Ironhide made contact, causing the Aron to pass right through open air.

It was at this moment that Shane reappeared, right at the Gardevoir’s new location. The mark on his arm burning brightly, he slashed at the Pokemon with his hand, delivering a powerful, warp energy charged strike.

“Wilhelm, use Shadow Punch!” Dmitri then ordered his Haunter. The ghostly pokemon flew up to the Gardevoir before she had a chance to react to Shane and swung at her with his phantasmic fist, further whittling her down.

“Time to finish it #8!” H shouted. He pulled the Snorunt at himself with one of his extendo-legs, then bounced the Pokemon off his chest pogo, sending it flying at the Gardevoir. “Headbutt!” #8 slammed into the Gardevoir and knocked her into the wall.

Not yet defeated, the Gardevoir began to pick herself up. Arlon wasn’t about to let the Embrace Pokemon get off another attack, though. “Ironhide, use Rock Slide!” he commanded his Aron. The small Iron Armor Pokemon summoned up a surge of rocks as he charged across the room at Rena’s Gardevoir. Once in range, Ironhide unleashed them, knocking the Embrace Pokemon out of the fight.

With the Gardevoir taken care of, Shane shifted targets to the Aggron. “F.I.R.E., use Ember!” he commanded his Houndour. The fiery canine unleashed a lick of flames at Devlin’s Pokemon, which growled in response.

“Time to take you down,” Devlin said calmly. “Stone Edge!” he commanded the Aggron. The big metal monster looked down at the Houndour spitting flames at him and swiped at her with a lethal claw, killing yet another Pokemon. Shane could do nothing but look on with shock and horror as his Houndour breathed her final breath.

The fight was far from over, though. As Rena recalled her Gardevoir and sent out her Metagross, Arlon recalled his own Pokemon in response. “That’s enough for you, mate,” he said as placed Ironhide’s ball back on his belt and grabbed another. “You’re up, Cinder!”Arlon called out as he released his Quilava.

Following Arlon’s example, Dmitri also recalled his Haunter, then he and Shane sent out new Pokemon. Dmitri released his Trapinch, and Shane his Clefairy. The Aggron stomped forward to meet these new foes and let out a fierce roar.

“This beast is a problem!” H shouted. He proceeded to pull out one of his string shot grenades and throw it at Devlin’s Aggron, trapping it in place to keep it from doing any more damage.

“Nice work, mate!” Arlon shouted to his crewmate. With the Aggron out of the picture, Arlon set his sights on Rena’s Metagross. “Cinder, use Ember!” His Quilava spit out a lick of flame at the Iron Leg Pokemon, dealing some significant damage.

“Yvonne, use Sand-Attack!” Morgan then commanded her Espeon. The Sun Pokemon kicked some dirt and dust from the floor up into the Metagross’s eyes, temporarily blinding it.

“Ordinateur, use Shadow Ball!” Rena commanded her Pokemon in response. The Metagross fired off a ball of shadowy energy back at the Espeon, but due to its blindness, it was unable to meet its mark.

“#8, use Powdered Snow!” H then commanded his Snorunt. The Snow Hat Pokemon followed up Yvonne’s attack with a blast of snow, slowly whittling the Metagross down. Dmitri then raised his hand and cast out a blast of hypnotic energy, putting the Pokemon to sleep.

Meanwhile, Titan attempted to land an attack of his own, but he was unable to break free of the string trapping him in place. The Aggron could do little more than thrash about wildly. H seized the opportunity to blast the Pokemon with a surge of electricity. Realizing that his Pokemon wasn’t going to be useful in his current condition, Devlin recalled him, causing the string to fall uselessly to the floor. He then reached for another Pokeball and sent out his Absol.

“Cinder, use Ember!”

“#8, use Icy Wind!”

Both Arlon and H commanded their Pokemon to attack this new threat. The two Pokemon launched their attacks, hitting the Absol hard and fast.

While the Absol was kept busy, Shane focused on the Metagross. “R.A.G.E., use Wake-Up Slap!” he commanded his Clefairy. The Fairy Pokemon bounced up to the sleeping Metagross, then smacked the metallic Pokemon as hard as he could, dealing a ton of damage. The Metagross woke for a brief moment before falling to the ground, unconscious.

Rena immediately recalled her Pokemon, then turned and began to walk away. “Don’t you walk away from me!” Arlon shouted at her, still angry that her Pokemon had killed his Houndoom.

Before Rena got very far, H grappled up onto the ceiling above her, then threw another string shot grenade. Rena grunted in surprise as the grenade collided with her, then let out a groan of pure disgust as it exploded, covering her with sticky string and trapping her in place.

Now, all eyes fell on Devlin and his Pokemon. Dmitri fired off another blast of hypnotic energy at the Absol, but the swift Disaster Pokemon dodged out of the way.

“Cinder, use Ember!” Arlon then commanded his Quilava.

“Pandora, use Sucker Punch!” Devlin barked at his Absol as the fiery Pokemon prepared to attack. The Absol ran up to the Quilava and took a swipe at her, knocking her out before she could get off her attack.

“#8, use Powdered Snow!” H then commanded his Snorunt from the ceiling. The Snow Hat Pokemon fired a blast of snow at the Absol, but she doesn’t seem to mind.

“Biollante, use Rock Slide!” Dmitri followed up with a command to his Trapinch. The Ant Pit Pokemon summoned up a massive tide of rocks, which she launched at the Absol, absolutely flooring the Disaster Pokemon and taking her down.

Devlin quickly recalled his fainted Absol, then sent out his Tyrantrum, a lethal brute of a Pokemon that Arlon was all too familiar with. The Tyrantrum let out a mighty roar as he emerged from his ball. H immediately blasted the Despot Pokemon with a bolt of electricity while Arlon and Dmitri switched out their Pokemon again. Dmitri switched back to his Haunter while Arlon sent out his recently evolved Frogadier.

“Jiraiya, use Water Pulse!” Arlon commanded his newly sent outPokemon. The Frogadier spit out a blast of water at the Tyrantrum, landing the first hit on the beast.

“#8, use Powdered Snow!” H then commanded his Snorunt. The Snow Hat Pokemon shots off another blast of snow, dealing a bit more damage to the Tyrantrum.

“R.A.G.E., use Sing!” Shane instructs his Clefairy, keeping up the assault. The Fairy Pokemon let out a soothing melody, which put the beast to sleep. “Now use Wake-Up Slap!” The Clefairy approached the sleeping Tyrantrum and hit it hard, delivering a nasty blow.

The Tyrantrum immediately snapped back to alertness, but before he could react, he was struck by more attacks.

“Jiraiya, use Water Pulse again!” Arlon commanded his Frogadier.

“#8, use Powdered Snow!” H commanded his Snorunt.

The two Pokemon unleashed their attacks and brought the Tyrantrum down. Unfazed, Devlin recalled his Tyrantrum and released Titan once again. Though the Aggron was now free of his sticky restraints, this time the crew was prepared and unleashed the full force of their Pokemon.

“Wilhelm, Night Shade!”

“Yvonne, use Psybeam!”

“#8, use Powdered Snow!”

“R.A.G.E., use Double-Slap!

“Jiraiya, use Water Pulse!”

Somehow, the Aggron managed to endure through the hits, then prepared to fight back. “Use Iron Tail!” Devlin commanded the Iron Armor Pokemon. Titan lunges forward, then slammed his tail down at #8. Miraculously, though, the Snorunt managed to dodge out of the way at the last second, leaving the Aggron vulnerable for another hit.

“Jiraiya, finish him off with Water Pulse!” Arlon commanded his Frogadier. The Bubble Frog Pokemon fired off one last pulse of water and finally brought Titan down.

Like the coward he was at heart, Devlin recalled his Pokemon, then turned and started running back toward the Corsair. Still hanging from the ceiling, H quickly lobbed another string shot grenade down at Devlin, stopping him dead in his tracks.

Anger burned in Arlon’s eyes as he approached his enemy. Voice cold, he said, “You’re coming with us.”

Back aboard the Dunsparce, Arlon shoved Devlin and Rena into the cargo hold rather harshly. He moved to follow them inside but Morgan grabbed his arm. “You need to calm down,” she told him.

“I am calm,” he replied coldly. He then nodded over at Rena. “Keep her in earshot. I’ll take care of him.” He then shifted his gaze to Devlin.

Morgan nodded, then headed over to deal with Rena while Arlon grabbed Devlin and dragged him along the floor and around some crates. He then picked him up and aggressively slammed his back against one of the crates. “Start talking.”

“‘Bout what?” Devlin responded snarkily.

“Why are you meeting with Mr. Silver?”

“It’s a job.”

“What job?”

“I don’t know yet,” Devlin spat. “You so kindly interrupted me when I was going to get it. The way I see it, you came here to ruin another job.”

“You and I both know that I had nothing to do with what happened on Parisia!” Arlon shouted, slamming Devlin against the crate again.

“Do we?” Devlin replied with a sarcastic tone.

“Enough of your bullshit!” Arlon shouted, bashing Devlin’s head into the crate. “I know you did it! I know you sabotaged the job and I know you killed Lars!”

“You ain’t got evidence.”

“Fuck you,” Arlon spat. He punched the loathsome man hard in the face before slamming him into the crate again.

Devlin spat blood back at him.

“I don’t need any bloody evidence,” Arlon continued. “The answer is as clear as day. Everyone knows you wanted to take over the Red Suns. You wanted to turn the team into some bloody pirate gang. You and Lars were always at each other’s throats about it. With him dead and me out of the picture, you could take over and turn the Red Suns into something they’re not. I have no idea how the hell the others would even go along with you pissing on Lars’ grave like this!”

Devlin just smirked at him.

Arlon narrowed his eyes. “You must be a real idiot to think you could get away with it forever,” he said. “Did you really think that if I did it I would so bloody stupid as to not pin it on a piece of shit like you? Now… you’re gonna tell me why you did it!”

“What’s there to tell? Really not that much of a story. I saw an opportunity and I took it … and there ain’t nothin’ you can say to prove it.” His smirk widened to a grin. “Ya gonna shoot me?” he taunted, glancing at Arlon’s hand resting on one of his pistols.

Arlon unholstered it and pressed it up against the base of Devlin’s chin. “I would very much like to,” he told him. “But you’re no good to me dead. Now, move,” he added, shoving Devlin back around the crates toward the center of the cargo hold. “I think someone has something to say to you.”

Arlon brought Devlin back around the corner where Morgan was waiting with Rena. At the sight of the Parisian sniper’s cold glare, Devlin’s smug expression quickly vanished, replaced by one of defeat. She had heard everything. Arlon shoved Devlin down onto the floor.

“You can untie her now,” Arlon told Morgan. Then, looking at Rena, he said, “So now you know the truth.”

“I suppose I do,” she responded, still eyeing him suspiciously.

“So what happens now?” Arlon asked her.

“I’m not sure,” she replied.

“Look, Rena, I know you probably still don’t trust me,” Arlon said. “So I’m not trying to tell you what to do or anything, but I know that you think that things were better when Lars was in charge, when the Red Suns were a respectable team of bounty hunters, not some bloody pirate scum.”

“What would you suggest?”

“Well right now it seems like you’re the most logical choice to take charge now.”

Rena raised an eyebrow. “Oh, really?”

“Well, with this bastard out of the way…” Arlon trailed off as he looked down at Devlin. He gave him a good kick in the ribs before continuing, “With him out of the way, you’re the only person left to take charge right now, especially since we, uh, kind of dumped Kiril on a random planet.”

She shook her head and let out a bit of a chuckle, not at all surprised to hear this. “So zat’s what ‘appened to ze big guy.”

“Yeah … I can give you the coordinates of the planet so you can go pick him up.”

“Assuming you let me leave.”

“Why wouldn’t I?” Arlon asked. “Now that you know the truth, you can take charge and keep the Red Suns off my back.”

“I don’t really ‘ave a choice do I?”

“Not really.”

“Fine,” she said with a sigh. She then nodded at Devlin. “What about ‘im?”

“As much as I’d like to kill this son of a bitch right now, I’ll leave it up to you.”

“You were burned most by ‘im,” Rena said. “I will let you decide ‘is fate.”

“Well I’ll promise you this: his fate won’t be kind.”

Rena looked down at Devlin. “I would certainly ‘ope so.”

Notes: And yet another long session. We went over by two hours this time. This was really the point in the campaign where we just got super into it and just wanted to keep going at the end of every session. Of course, because of that, I had to split this rewrite into two parts.

The big thing that happened this session was that Arlon got to achieve his character goals. This was around the point when I decided I was going to roll a new character for Volume 2 and DragonStorm and I had discussed that I wanted to at least achieve my goals for Arlon before the end of Volume 1, but I hadn’t expected it to happen this session.

The battle with the Red Suns was intense. It was the first time we had Pokemon deaths, and they both happened to be of the same evolutionary line. F.I.R.E. and Cerberus who were caught together on Silicron all those weeks ago have been laid to rest. I was kind of bummed when my Houndoom died since it was going to be one of the key members of my team, but in the end I ended up just keeping Quilava on my team to cover fire types and then stuck with my Mightyena for dark type.

After the battle, It was time to interrogate Devlin Garth and dive into Arlon’s backstory. The whole thing ended up being straightforward, but then again, Arlon was a pretty cut and dry character. He actually became much more interesting in Volume 2 as a side character who would appear from time to time. It was fun to go back and expand upon Arlon’s backstory in the origin story I wrote for him before I began these rewrites and I got to tie in some details from that into this chapter which was neat. The big one being that Devlin’s Aggron is actually the very same one Arlon used to have before the start of Spacemon, the very same one you saw in action in the origin story.

So that wrapped up Arlon’s plotline, leaving only the main plot to get to, which is built off of the meeting with Mr. Silver at the beginning of this chapter. And that’s what will be covered in the second chapter from this session which I’ll be posting tomorrow.

Update 9/21/21: This was a great chapter. It didn’t need much work, but it did take a while to convert to past tense just because it’s a bit long. There were only some minor fixes here and there. In the first scene I touched up a few bits of dialogue to make it a bit more clear on who was talking, and I had to change some bits mentioning the Genesect as it seemed to imply that we’d already talked to Mr. Silver about them before and that didn’t make sense. It could have been something lost from the original meeting with Mr. Silver in the writing since I wasn’t taking notes at that point, but whatever the case, at least its all consistent now. I also changed the final price value of our delivery to a more rounded number, just because it flowed a bit better. I didn’t alter much else in the chapter aside from making the combat descriptions a bit cleaner and throwing in some extra references to Arlon’s origin chapter. Overall, just minor improvements, but I think it pushes this from a good chapter to a great chapter.

That does it for this chapter. As always the Spacemon gang and I will be monitoring the comments to foster discussion and answer any questions. Feel free to give feedback and critiques of the writing so I can improve it for the future, or just leave a comment with what you think about what went down in this chapter or what you think might happen next! This was an extremely satisfying conclusion to Arlon’s personal story. I’m very glad he didn’t end up having to kill his own pokemon. But speaking of pokemon deaths, ouch. The first two of the campaign and both in the same battle. Houndoom is a personal favorite of mine, but they really have the defense of a wet paper bag and unfortunate weaknesses to some of the most physically inclined types out there.

I found a couple more present tense phrases that slipped through:
- “Now, Titan, hit that Rhyhorn with Iron Tail!” The Iron Armor Pokemon roared, then charges at #1.
- Without Shane there to instruct her, F.I.R.E. looked at Titan, determining the hulking Aggron to be the biggest threat, then spits out fire at the Iron Armor Pokemon.

@peepso_user_2076(Shadows_Interceptor) Yeah it was a tough fight and our Pokemon were not the strongest at the time.

Thanks, I'll correct those.
