Welcome back to the Friday Open Forum! It’s been a while, but I’m your host, DisturbedShadow! Kind of fell off posting these since people weren’t commenting. Is anyone out there still?
It’s been so long that there must be a lot to catch up on. A friend of mine recently got me back into playing Halo. I haven’t been able to get or try Infinite yet, but he grabbed Master Chief Collection on PC and we’ve been playing that together. I’d forgotten how much I’d enjoyed the series. In other news, I’ve been checking out some music releases I missed last year. I’d heard so many good things about the band Spiritbox but never got to checking it out until now. Man, I slept on this band to long. They’re debut album Eternal Blue is really amazing and I see now why it topped a bunch of 2021 year end metal albums lists. Definitely near the top of mine. I think second place behind Trivium’s In the Court of the Dragon.

Favorite albums of 2021: Iron Maiden - Senjustsu, Helloween - Helloween, Rivers of Nihil - The Work, and of course, Trivium - In The Court of the Dragon.

The past week was thoroughly mundane for the most part, which isn't especially kind to someone who was also stir-crazy and rather frustrated and unhappy because of personal and world things combined. Today is already much better, thankfully, if only because the wife and I got to take a nice walk in the park together, which we hadn't done in a good while.
One bright spot of yesterday, though, despite the humdrum of it all, was that I suddenly got in the mood to break out the plastic guitar for Rock Band 4. Good, good times!
As for favorite music of last year...I've got designs on making an entire post dedicated to that, though it's obviously going to be way late whenever it does come together. The rock/metal space is likely gonna be not so represented, but one song that frequently had me jamming for the past half year was "Boilermaker" from Royal Blood. I'm all about the shuffling swagger.
So! My newest gaming niche is apparently "turn-based deck builders". Given that a couple of my most recent finds are Slay the Spire, and Fights in Tight Spaces. Both of which follow Monster Train well before that. What can I say; I just love it when that one perfect turn comes together!
