TAY! Weekend!!! Whatcha Playing?

Happy Weekend TAY2!

My first weekend post in our new home.

A big cheer for Aikage and everyone else who got this place off the ground and continue to keep the lights on. I’m sorry I don’t know who exactly was involved with this new site, but you all have my sincerest thanks.

I was amazed to see how quickly the new site was up and how everything has come together. I’m glad the conversations can continue.

While I skipped posting last weekend (for my wife’s birthday), the gaming didn’t stop.

The kid and I finally had a chance to finish off Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.  It was definitely a better experience than the original game with smoother controls and more advanced gameplay.  However, the real winner was the new cutscenes.

Directed by Ryuhei Kitamura, these reimagined cutscenes help make the batshit-crazy story a little more palatable.   The dialogue is still awful and the storytelling still makes me cringe, but if you have a choice in Metal Gear Solids, then The Twin Snakes is the way to go.

For my solo gaming time, I again spent way too much time with Undermine on PC.  I haven’t been this addicted to a game in a while and I keep waiting for the gameplay loop to wear on me…but it never does.

I also managed a little more time with my new Azeron keypad.  I think I’m at a place where I don’t need to make any more physical adjustments for the fit and I’ve finally wrapped my head around all the different settings for the thumbstick. The level of customization of this device is impressive.

I’ve been testing the Azeron with Blood: Fresh Supply.  I haven’t played Blood since it launched in 1997 and I’m surprised how well it holds up.  Blood certainly wasn’t on the same level as games like Doom and Duke Nukem, but I’m enjoying my time with it.

I’m also still playing Remnant: From the Ashes online with my buddy and we are enjoying it more now than when we started.  It is a bland game at the beginning, but the environments and gameplay seem to improve as it goes along.  It is still more repetitive than I would like and rewards and upgrades are few and far between, but it is a fun game to play co-op while catching up with a friend.

Hopefully this weekend I’ll have more time for Blood: Fresh Supply and get my regular fix of Undermine.  Of course, I’ll be keeping an eye out for some Black Friday and Cyber-Monday deals on games.

So, what are you playing this weekend?
