Guide – Custom Controller configuration on PS4 (including gyro aiming!)

I only recently got a PS4, after having gotten very used to using gyroscopic aiming on my PC for games like Tomb Raider (2013). I was completely unable to play Horizon Zero Dawn using only the sticks, so after much searching of Reddit and YouTube (and a fair bit of experimentation) I have figured out how to use it on my PS4 as well, with the help of my PC running steam and other software.

This guide will show you what I do to get it to work. In the process, you will also see how this process can be tweaked to unlock many options for PS4 control, including using the Xbox Elite controller, Nintendo Switch Pro controller, or Steam controller with your ps4.

Note: This technique is not free – it will cost you a minimum of 12 British Pounds (about $14 right now) for the software.

That’s a shame, because Just Dance, at least the modern version, is really, really fun. I never had a Wii, or an Xbox 360, or any of the other … Read more

Returning Gamer Reviews: Outer Wilds

I have recently returned to consistent gaming after over a decade of dabbling. This is the second in a series where I review games with that lens. The first was Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom. If I try to trace back to the moment my gaming fade began, I think it starts with my brother’s acquisition of … Read more

Returning Gamer Reviews: Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom

I have recently returned to gaming and am loving it. This post is the first of a maybe-series in which I review games from that perspective. I have never beaten a 2-d platformer. I played a lot of them as a kid – Super Mario Bros 1-3, Megaman 2 and 3, the amazing Aladdin and Lion King games on Sega Genesis – but I never … Read more
