Mega Update #18

The bad news: Ankylosing Spondilitus fucking sucks and I’m in the middle of a flare up that makes even makes my skin and fingers hurt, thus I can’t work. The good news: only Four pieces of artwork separate me from finishing Kaiju Crush once and for all. Three cut scenes and a character asset. I’m really in the final stretch now. I still need to redo the menu art as well, but since there’s at least some kind of menu art already done, when the last four assets are added to the game it will feel like the game is complete and any additional work is just tweaking stuff, which is largely what editing is anyway. Unfortunately while I said that Koni’s route doesn’t contain as many complicated city scenes, it does contain at least one and of course I saved that sucker until dead last. It’s going to take a few sketches to make it look the way I want, and then of course breaking out Ye Olde Perspective Grid to put everything together. But it’s going to be a lot easier to push myself to that finish line. Still, this flareup is worse than usual (I blame the weather, at least the Polar Vortex didn’t sucker punch Colorado too badly, we get freezing temperatures in February all the time so our power grid was pretty much untouched) so I will probably have to push the release date to May after all. Especially since one of the cut scenes is one I hadn’t originally planned but the game really needed it to balance things out.

That isn’t so bad since I really do want that extra time to do a proper publicity campaign and have enough time to cross my t’s and dot my i’s when it comes to Steam, Epic and Itch. The one thing I’ve learned doing indie projects is softwares/sites/companies that work with small press stuff is they aren’t super uber concerned with your publicity stuff. They never seem to give you an exact date when they’ll approve stuff for their stores and they take their sweet time processing it. I remember many years ago having some rather testy exchanges with a print on demand company because they couldn’t guarantee whether or not they’d have my proof ready before the Christmas sale season and I started the process in October. And spoiler alert, that was mostly my bad more than theirs. This is why I’ve been still saying ‘April’ or ‘May’ rather than ‘April 3rd’ or what-have-you. Because even if I submit Kaiju Crush to all three companies, experience tells me they’re going to be approved at three different times.

Still, I’m really excited to get the rough cut finally finished because my Patrons on Patreon and Scully are all going to get the first chance to play the game in all its giant monster girl glory, and that’s going to happen some time before the end of the month.

@peepso_user_35(RealmofDarthon) Thanks. Having this disease is a bitch and a half, but the weather drying out has helped
