TAY Weekend: Whatcha Playing!?!?!?

Headphones, Sony Move Controller, and VR headset on a white background

Greetings TAY!  As I mentioned last week, Datacide will be off for a little while.  I’ve stepped in to pick up the weekend post while he’s away.  I know I’m nowhere near as charismatic as him, but bear with me.  Bare with me?  Why can’t I remember that one?

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Christmas if you celebrated and if not, I hope everyone at least enjoyed some time off work if you’re employed.  We had a nice quiet Christmas for once.  We DID end up going to my sister’s briefly to exchange gifts.  We did this very responsibly outside, with masks on, six feet apart.  It was weird but it worked. We made some really nice baby back ribs for Christmas dinner with sweet potato mash as a side.  We used Chef John from foodwishes.com’s recipe. (not an advertising partner, I just really like the guy) They came out very very good!  Took a long time and I probably wouldn’t make them again any time soon but if you are big into ribs these were fantastic.

The holidays brought all the requisite sales.  Playstation had a half off sale, Epic and Steam had their holiday sales, I’m sure Microsoft had some X-Box thing.  I picked up a lot of games this year!  My kid and Kidechka just finished A Hat in Time together so they needed a new game to play.  I bought them….

A white goose in a park

This goose game all the kids are raving about!  I imagine they’ll have a lot of fun being mischievous together.  I just wish I ever got to see them :(.  Because of COVID I’m off Wednesday and Thursday and working Saturday and Sunday.  Kidechka is off Saturday and Sunday so for the last 9 months I’ve only had a sporadic few days off with her.  Ugh.

I also got Overcooked 2 from humble monthly.  We enjoyed Overcooked quite a bit even if it did have me wanting to throw a controller at my daughter for not being able to prioritize at all sometimes.  But it’s all in good fun!  I picked up some Space Marine diablo clone that I had heard rumor was couch coop for Kidechka and I to play after we get done with Divinity OS2 as well. Speaking of…After approximately 2 years and 3 or 4 attempts, we finally finished chapter 1.  Good freaking bye Fort Joy.  Yeesh.  In non-gaming news we’ve been watching Utopia (US) and it’s pretty good.  I don’t like the lady they got to play Jessica Hyde for very terrible reasons (her mouth bothers me).  Otherwise, the whole cast is great.  I thought casting Dwight Shrute was going to be a miss but Rainn Wilson does a great job of being a normal person and not over the top.

So that’s enough about me, what are YOU playing this weekend?

Happy final weekend of the year, everyone here in the TAY community! I hope that all of you have had a wonderful Christmas and a great weekend on your end as we enjoy the last weekend of the disastrous nightmare that has been this god-awful year. The glorious day when we can punt this hellish year away and welcome the new year into existence is almost here!

Well, I did spend roughly fifteen hours (from 11:30 AM Saturday to 3:45 AM Sunday) playing the PS5 remaster of **_Marvel's Spider-Man_**. Don't worry...that was two gaming sessions split up by a hour and ten minute break between them (I would never be able to go 15 full hours in a row gaming without taking a break). I manged to go from the first few hours of Act I all the way to the early parts of Act III, securing thirty trophies along the way during all of those hours I spent gaming yesterday into early this morning. Outside of that, I have not played any other games so far this weekend.

I do plan on squeezing in around two to three hours of gaming later tonight once **_Sunday Night Football_** ends on NBC (as of writing this, the Packers are up 12-0 on the Titans on a cold, snowy night at Lambeau Field). I am currently undecided on what I am going to play, but the odds I play more of the remastered _Spider-Man_ is pretty high (around 80%). If not, it will be one of the following games:

1. **_Death Stranding_** **(PS4 disk via my PS5)**
2. **_The Witcher III: Wild Hunt_** **(PS4 disk via my PS5)**
3. **_Spider-Man: Miles Morales_** **(PS5)** (already beat the game, this would be so I can go back and pick up some of the trophies I missed out on)
4. **_Astro's Playroom_** **(PS5)** (this would also be to pick up the trophies that I missed when I originally beat the game several weeks ago)

Have a great rest of your Sunday, everyone! Hopefully we can all enjoy this final week of 2020 and look forward to the arrival of 2021 on Friday!

Although I don't follow football too much, I know that my hometown team the Buffalo Bills are AFC East champions? Go Bill! ....or something! I can't believe the super bowl hasn't happened yet it feels really like this has been 12 years compacted into one.

I have started spider man twice now and got through the kingpin boss fight and then quit both times. Not sure what's up it seems like the kind of game I'd love I guess the timing just hasn't been right.
