TAY2: Open Forum – Keep Moving

Another weekend has come and gone, and you know what that means – time to kick of the new week with another Monday Forum!

At the end of September, I’m planning to move. We’re moving literally a few blocks away, but it’s no less exciting and at the same time stressful as any other move. A new place is always kind of exciting, and at the same time it’s nerve racking as I have not move around too much in my life.

It’s a good opportunity to clear out the things you don’t really use any more, and find all the things you thought you had lost over the years. Maybe not so much with the latter, but one can only hope!

Something I’ve always enjoyed in a game is when they allow you to be creative with space and make it your own, something Animal Crossing does exceptionally well. Not only can you customize your house to your heart’s content, you can apply this to the entire island and turn it into your own little slice of heaven.

Creating a home IRL isn’t too different from this, although it can be more labor intensive. Sadly, you can’t change your floor or wallpaper at the touch of a button, but that does kind of make the end result somewhat more satisfying. I like to think so, anyway.

Speaking of moving, one of the greatest things a video game can do is move well. Tight, responsive controls are always such a pleasure, whether you’re doing flips as Mario or perfectly executing a technical combo in your favorite fighting game. Since the former kind of moving is a little boring to talk about, let me base my questions this week off the latter –

  • Which video game character, for you, has the best movement?
  • Name a character who doesn’t have the moves?
  • If you could add one character to Smash, who would it be?
  • As always, feel free to Talk Amongst Yourselves!

Is the new place safer? I remember that you had some law type troubles going on in your neighborhood such as the shootings and the burglaries.

In the vein of moving and houses: Been playing a lot of minecraft lately. It's so fun but it's oddly different tthis time through. I feel like I learned how to play my previous times through and now this time I'm just focused on building. I got the enchanting table and the XP farm early so I'm super OP and nothing in the main world with the exception of just falling off a very steep ledge, can kill me. So I'm just going on this site grabcraft.com and finding new and interesting things to build. I'm currently building a castle for my daughter to live in. I told her she can't live in our town which seems cruel but we worked really hard on it and she's not very cognizant of things like "not having a creeper blow up half the town" so I told her I'd help her build her own area she can play in with her friend that is far enough away that she can visit during the day time.
